17 children rescued from sexual exploitation in Kenya

The children are now free from sex trafficking and exploitation.

The children were between 7 and 17 years old, and two of them were boys. Half of the children were being trafficked by adults, while the other half were forced to sell their bodies just to survive without the presence of a trafficker.

These kids face incredible challenges moving forward, but we are committed to supporting them as they get their start in a life of freedom. You can read the encouraging words of a Kenyan survivor who overcame daunting odds on our blog.

While most of the survivors had been forced to sell themselves in order to afford basic necessities, one 15-year-old girl had also been under the control of a human trafficker. A myriad of factors led to their desperation, from family illness to hunger to homelessness. The resulting vulnerability forced them into a situation they never wanted.

Now, those vulnerabilities are being addressed in our Community Care Program so that these women and girls can continue to live free. Celebrate their freedom with us today!

In our quest to identify kids in need of rescue, we don’t turn a blind eye when our investigations reveal adults caught in the grip of human traffickers.

Criminals took advantage of these women’s financial vulnerabilities to sexually exploit them for profit. Our team worked with local law enforcement to organize four separate raids to rescue them and bring their traffickers to justice.

After the raids, most of the women were returned to their homes while a few began their recovery in the care of government caseworkers. Five traffickers were arrested and are awaiting trial for their crimes.
