22 Rescued in the Dominican Republic
22 people, including 14 children, are free from sexual exploitation
Agents in the Dominican Republic continue to wage a multi-front war on sexual exploitation. Over the course of a couple of months, our teams collaborated with local authorities to rescue 12 kids from domestic sex crime situations, one child from forced marriage, and another from online exploitation. If that wasn’t enough, they also helped to take down an international trafficking operation, rescuing 8 young women and aiding in the arrest of 4 international criminals
We helped repatriate the young women back to their home countries. The children are all recovering at home now, free from their abusers. In all, police arrested 17 traffickers and abusers.

Most of those rescued had been forced to sell their bodies just to survive. Others were rescued from sex crimes or being sexually exploited by a human trafficker for money. The youngest was only 9 years old, and three of the survivors were boys. All of the survivors have been enrolled in our Community Care Program, where they’ll learn to maneuver through the trauma they endured and be equipped to live free.
