13-year-old safe after agents aid in dangerous arrest

The suspect, accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl, was armed with a 6" knife at the time of the arrest.

Our agents in the Dominican Republic assisted law enforcement in locating the suspect and coaxing him out of his residence and into the street. When officers moved in for the arrest, he removed a 6″ knife from his right belt. An officer fired a single shot into the ground creating a distraction that allowed for the suspect’s arrest without injury to anyone at the scene.

The accused lived very near the child’s house, putting her in constant danger until the arrest was made.
