Where We Work

Our Work in Cambodia

The history of Cambodia is stained with trauma, turmoil and warfare. In more recent times, civil war in the 1970s led to the deaths of over two million nationals, during the reign of the notorious Khmer Rouge and leader Pol Pot. This evil communist dictator took control of the country from 1975 to 1979 and forced it back into a subsistence lifestyle.  Multitudes died from disease, starvation and brutal execution – many of them in what are known as The Killing Fields and SR-21.

Today, Cambodia is still struggling to rebuild from the horrors of its past, and it’s still heavily dependent on foreign aid. Corruption is rampant and affects almost every level of government and modern society, adding to the difficult rebuilding process.

HOW WE ARE HELPING END SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

Child Rescue is offering real hope and tangible love to countless lives in Cambodia. We’re rescuing children out of the sex-trade, giving them a chance to find and fulfil their God-given destinies, and we’re providing a safe place for them to live – a place where children can be kids again and experience unconditional love and healing. We’re also empowering the poor through our small business loan initiatives to help them become self-sufficient. In the end, we’re impacting many lives through our efforts in this country.
