Five girls were rescued and three perpetrators arrested in a recent karaoke TV (KTV) bar raid in the Philippines. The raid was a combined effort between the anti-trafficking police, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Labor, and Destiny Rescue agents.
About two months ago, our rescue agents identified underage girls in the KTV. The rescue agents contacted the anti-trafficking police and handed the case over to them, along with footage of the mamasan admitting to selling underage girls for sex. The anti-trafficking police found the evidence to be sufficient, and within days they contacted the Destiny Rescue agents to coordinate a plan of action.
Accompanied by our agents, the anti-trafficking police entered the KTV to set up a raid. During the course of the night, one of the undercover agents made a transaction with the mamasan. The rest of the team was then signaled to secure the premises, the girls, and the perpetrators. The agents quickly got the underage girls into the vehicle that would transport them to a safe location.
Police arrested the mamasan, the manager of the bar, and the owner of the bar. The Destiny Rescue agents and Department of Social Welfare and Development officers accompanied the girls to a safe location, from which they will be placed in aftercare facilities.
Destiny Rescue’s Aftercare team will follow up with the girls to check on their progress as they adjust to their new situations and begin healing. Destiny Rescue agents will continue working alongside anti-trafficking police to ensure justice is carried out.
